Vanilla Ice Cream
This recipe creates a traditional Vanilla Ice Cream, while substituting real vanilla flavoring for the sometimes hard to find vanilla beans and requires no chilling prior to making the ice cream!
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup half and half
- 1 cup whole or 2% milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon real vanilla flavoring
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the heavy cream, half and half, whole milk, salt and sugar until sugar is completely dissolved; usually for about 5-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and allow the mixture to slowly drop down to room temperature. Stir in the vanilla flavoring. Pour into your ice cream maker’s freezer section and churn according to the normal instructions.
- If you do not have the real vanilla flavoring, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract can easily be substituted. For a more subtle vanilla flavor, reduce the real vanilla by half.
