  1. 2 cups fresh tart apples
  2. 2 cups fresh avocado, pitted and cubed
  3. 1 cup watermelon, cubed and seeded
  4. 1 cup fresh orange juice
  5. ½ cup apple cider
  6. sugar or honey to taste
  7. crushed ice, as needed
  8. 1 tablespoon pistachios, lightly toasted and finely chopped
  1. Cut each apple in half and remove seeds and core. Leave the skin or peel using a vegetable peeler, according to preference. Place in a blender and puree until smooth. Add avocado, watermelon, orange juice and apple cider. Sweeten with sugar or honey to taste. Add crushed ice and process for another 2 to 3 minutes or until smooth and free of lumps.
  2. Divide smoothie among 2 to 4 glasses and garnish tops with chopped pistachios. Serve smoothies right away.
  3. Makes 2 to 4 servings.
  1. Aside from avocado, you may also use celery, spinach, kiwi or green mangoes to convert this smoothie into a green smoothie.
